The Van Herick system for grading the anterior chamber angle if performed methodically, can be a useful clinical skill in assessment of the narrow angle.  In combination with other signs such as the flashlight test, the need for gonioscopy can be indicated.  This video discusses the technique, grading system and the potential limitations of the Van Herick system.
