Side Effects of Acetazolamide

Acetazolamide is an important part of our armourmentarium for lowering of intraocular pressure.  There are however, signifcant side effects limiting its usage.  This two part lecture series cover the biochemistry, side effects from minor to life-threatening and the practical usage of this drug.  It is critical to detect any side effects early to ensure the safety of our patients.

Professor Peter Shah is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Supra-Regional Glaucoma Specialist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. He is also a Visiting Professor to the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology). He is Honorary Professor of Glaucoma at the Centre for Health and Social Care Improvement at the University of Wolverhampton.
