Cyclodiode Part 2 and Discussion
Trans-scleral ciliary body ablation with the diode laser or cyclodiode is an invaluable technique for refractory cases of glaucoma. This video discusses the potential complications and importantly how to minimise the risks. In particular, hypotony and haemorrhage are blinding so laser parameters need to be modified according to the particular patient's eye. It is a technique not only reserved for end-stage eyes, but can be useful in sighted eyes where drainage surgery is unlikely to be successful or put the eye at excessive risk.
