Consultant Survival Skills - Introduction Part 1

The work environment we experience is vastly different to the previous generation of doctors.  There is increasing pressure from administration, institutions and patients.  There is high rate of burnout amongst young doctors, particularly in the more emotionally charges specialties.  How will you survive?  This series is entitled "Consultant Survival Skills"  It is designed to help doctors starting out in practice, but also any doctors in need of guidance.  Not everyone will survive, but make sure you are one of them.

Professor Peter Shah is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Supra-Regional Glaucoma Specialist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. He is also a Visiting Professor to the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology). He is Honorary Professor of Glaucoma at the Centre for Health and Social Care Improvement at the University of Wolverhampton.
