The cataract consent process is a critical part of patient surgical management.  A comprehensive informed consent prepares the patient for the surgery and enables the best outcome for the procedure.  Surgery by nature is associated with potential risks, however if the patient is forewarned the doctor-patient relationship is enhanced if complications do arise.  In principle, with any surgery benefits must outway the risks.  This video discusses in-depth the consent process, including a real patient consent recording and phacoemulsification surgical footage.
